Veranda System

Colony system for breeders

The Veranda system (a colony system) is specially designed for housing broiler and layer breeding stock.
Climate on bird level: Smaller group size, ventilation on bird level, no contact with their own manure, resulting in a better animal welfare friendly design and a much lower environmental output. Each unit provides the necessary light, feed, water, nests and fresh air. Also, every unit is equipped with a 2C slat and every nest box with a Venco-mat.
System advantages: Because of the optimal housing situation, higher production and hatchability results are obtained with a decreased feed consumption. Lower mortality for the males and females is also a significant advantage of the Veranda system. The absence of floor eggs, the low maintenance level and the easy control reduces labour.
Heat exchanger: The Veranda system and the special agro supply heat exchanger is the perfect combination to create the ideal living conditions for the birds. The climate unit creates 100% fresh air at bird level. The manure on the belts is dried to a minimum 60% dry matter and ammonia levels are reduced by 85%.
Veranda unit: A veranda unit is 4.60m [181.1"] long and 1.86m [73.2"] wide, which can house 60 females and 4 males (broiler breeders) or 100 females and 8 males for layer breeders.

Some typical advantages of our system:

  • Bigger flock size
  • Smaller group size
  • Higher egg production
  • More hatching eggs
  • Lower feed consumption
  • Better liveability
  • Better uniformity in egg size
  • Better chick quality
  • Better uniformity in immunity
  • Lower cost price per hatching egg
